It’s Black History and the 1st of the Month

Above; Bessie Coleman, first licensed African American pilot in the world (1893 – 1926).

While listening to Bone Thugs N Harmony, I’m reminded of how promising the future can be on the first of the month.  You feel more optimistic, renewed, you’re about to—or just recently got paid. Haaay.

With a brand spanking new month ahead of us it’s time for a fresh start.  On the 15th of February  I’ll be starting my first day of the Arise and Shine cleanse.  This time however,  i’ll only be cleansing my body for the duration of 1-2 weeks instead of an entire month.

What other activity can I do that correlates with Black History Month and a cleansing?  You know, something positive and enriching for the surrounding community?  Perhaps I’ll seriously commit to chipping in at an urban farm or food organization.  My dear friend Lea always encourages me to put in more hours at the Free Farm on Gough and Eddy St.  I’ve also been flirting with the idea of volunteering at 826 Valencia.  But with a public announcement such as this I have no other choice than to follow through this time around.  So please hold me to it.  I’ll keep you posted.
